Meet Mark
Committed to Safety. Dedicated to Justice. Ready to Serve.
Mark has practiced law in Northern Nevada for more than 25 years and served six years with the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office as Chief Deputy District Attorney. During that time, he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, including homicide, serious drug offenses, and crimes against children and vulnerable adults.
Over the course of his career, Mark has tried more than 40 criminal jury trials. In one case, he secured a sentence of 375 years to life, the longest sentence in Lyon County history. He was also the first prosecutor in Nevada to obtain a conviction under the state law making it murder to supply drugs that result in a fatal overdose.
Mark has built his career around protecting victims and standing up for vulnerable members of the community. In one case, he worked with law enforcement to rescue several severely neglected and emaciated horses from unsafe conditions. After receiving care and rehabilitation, the horses were adopted into safe homes. For Mark, protecting the vulnerable means enforcing the law wherever abuse or neglect occurs.
Today, Mark serves as Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, Bureau of Consumer Protection, where he has helped lead major statewide efforts to protect Nevada families and communities.
Mark is playing a key role in efforts to hold online platforms accountable for harms to children. As part of those efforts, he helped secure Nevada’s landmark settlement agreement with the online gaming platform Roblox to implement stronger protections for children online. The settlement established enhanced age verification measures, expanded parental controls, and secured over $10 million to support youth programs, online safety education, and law enforcement efforts aimed at protecting children from exploitation.
In addition, Mark has helped secure more than $1.2 billion through Nevada’s opioid litigation to address the devastating impacts of the opioid crisis on families and communities across the state.
Mark believes victims deserve not only justice, but support throughout the legal process. If elected District Attorney, he will work to establish a dedicated Victim-Witness Advocate position within the District Attorney’s Office to help victims navigate the court system, understand their rights, and receive consistent communication about their cases.
He also plans to strengthen partnerships with the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and community organizations to expand public education efforts focused on fraud prevention, scams targeting seniors, online safety, and protecting vulnerable residents before they become victims.
In addition to his courtroom experience, Mark has extensive civil law and government experience. He has advised the Lyon County Commission and other county officials on a wide range of legal matters and understands the unique needs of the communities that make up Nevada’s third-most populous county.
Mark is recognized as a strong and collaborative leader who builds effective teams and fosters accountability. He has trained law enforcement cadets through Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), serves as a part-time professor at Western Nevada College and Truckee Meadows Community College, and has drafted numerous state laws as well as provisions of the Lyon County Code.
Throughout his career, Mark has authored thousands of legal documents and contributed to a published book focused on improving the investigation and prosecution of crimes against children.
For more than 25 years, Mark has worked to protect victims, prosecute criminals, and support law enforcement. This election presents a clear contrast between a prosecutor focused on public safety and a defense attorney whose career has been spent representing those accused of crimes.
Mark is running for District Attorney to bring experience, integrity, and a commitment to public safety to the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office. Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope has endorsed Mark because he knows Mark has the experience and judgment to do the job from day one.
